Weave

The Weave Building is a pioneering commercial project in Northwest Portland, serving as a connection point between the West End neighborhood south of Burnside and the Pearl District to the north. The project site poses numerous obstacles to infill development including a small footprint (5,000 square feet), a national historic registry property to the west, a major traffic artery to the north, and the implausibility of on-site parking. The design meets these challenges with an innovative and playfully reinterpretation of the property line creating more sidewalk and landscaping for pedestrians, while still adding space to the floor plates above. This plan results in a landmark design that creates community for tenants, a link between districts and an iconic silhouette.
